Well, here is a look at my most recent digital painting.
If you are unfamiliar with what you're looking at, I'd suggest that you Google 'Merlion', or even Singapore. The two are almost inseparable.
Now, a little about the work. I experimented a lot with using a hard brush combined with an opacity regulated by pen pressure setting. The types of things I am normally coloring are metals (Blackarachnophobia, Hearts of Steel Prime, etc.), which I like to use gloss and gradients with, so it was a nice change of pace and a real chance to broaden my horizons, as it were.
I hope the effort is not lost on you lot. Looking forward to the feedback.
Wow, thats very cool looking. I do feel the head doesn't flow into the body. I guess there isn't much that can be done do to the original design. Though, how about you did a gradient or something around the neck with the body color into the lion's head color? Great job otherwise.
Yeah, I hear you. The merlion is essentially a fish body with a lion's head stuck on top in place of a normal fish's head. There's really no transition.
I was hoping that I would be able to use the lion's mane to do the transition work for me. I suppose a patch of short-haired fur running down and fading at the bottom of the neck wouldn't be such a bad idea. I may have to look into that.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
